1. Christopher Benton pleads not guilty

KTLA reports that Christopher Benton pleaded not guilty Monday to making criminal threats and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Benton’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 7, and he remains in jail on $195,000 bail.

2. Incoming class welcomed at the Brock House for My Tie 2012

3. IP’s Mayenfisch-Tobin appeals termination

Former Lausanne program director, Mary Mayenfisch-Tobin, is in the latter stages of appealing her termination which occurred over the summer.  Provost Darryl Tippens is in the process of considering the appeal, according to Mayenfisch-Tobin.

4. New year offers new direction in LGBT saga

The Counseling Center now hosts a voluntary LGBT support group led by Director Connie Horton.

5. Athletics cuts cheerleading

Last semester, the Waves’ cheer coach informed her cheerleaders that the Athletics administration would be ending the cheerleading program and moving in a more dance-focused pom and spirit squad.
