Lawrence and University part ways

June 11, 2011 by Edgar Hernandez

In a message circulating on Facebook, Don Lawrence announced that he is no longer working for Pepperdine University. The message, sent out Saturday night to dozens in the Pepperdine community, consists of Lawrence announcing his departure from the University to find a “place that will better appreciate [his] strengths and utilize [his] skills.” The reason for the abrupt departure is still unknown.

Furthermore, Lawrence noted that he is proud of his legacy at Pepperdine, a legacy that he says he could not have accomplished alone.

Lawrence worked as the director of Intercultural Affairs. In his four years as director, Pepperdine saw a growth from five intercultural student organizations to 17 as well as the annual CultureFest event. Most recently, he helped to implement the Multicultural Graduation Celebration, which was met with some controversy among the student body.

Lawrence could not be reached for comment. The Graphic will report more details as they are made available.
