The team fell to No. 1-ranked USC in the NCAA Regional Finals in Hawaii. A major highlight for the Waves was when they beat UCLA in five sets in the second tournament of the season. Hope renewed for Arsenal fans At the beginning of the soccer season, the future looked bleak for Arsenal F.C. Two of their best players, Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas, coldly abandoned the club, with Fabregas heading to boyhood club Barcelona and Nasri heading to Premier League rivals Manchester City. Bad results soon followed in Arsenal’s first few games. Since then, however, Arsenal has become one of the best and most exciting teams in Europe. Their acquisition of German defender Per Mertesacker (who bears an uncanny resemblance to English actor Ralph Fiennes) and Ivory Coast winger ...

Men’s volleyball splits weekend set Malibu, CA-The No. 7 Waves missed an opportunity to improve their post-season chances Friday with a 3-2 loss to No. 5 Stanford at Firestone Fieldhouse. The Cardinal (15-5) came into Malibu after a disappointing 3-1 loss to Hawaii and quickly took hold of the match with a 25-17 first set victory, due in large part to eight errors by the Pepperdine attack. The Waves (12-11), led by Junior Maurice Torres, scampered back to take two of the next three to force a fifth set. The Cardinal took a quick 3-0 ...

Final Four brings on-campus excitement The 2012 NCAA Men’s Division I Championship is now down to its “Final Four.” The tournament, which started with 68 teams on March 13, showed some real madness this season. Two powerhouse No. 2-seeded teams, the Duke Blue Devils and the Missouri Tigers, fell to the No. 15 seeded at-large bid teams the Lehigh Mountain Hawks and the Norfolk Sate Spartans. The tournament gave many bracket constructers headaches and opened up a chance for another Cinderella team run such as the 2010 Butler Bulldogs or the 2004 George Mason Patriots, which is ...
