Olvera Street celebrates Cinco de Mayo Cinco de Mayo festivities swelled through the heart of downtown Los Angeles as the city’s diverse population came together to celebrate Mexican heritage and culture. The day commemorates the victory of the poorly-equipped Mexican army over French forces in a fight to drive the Europeans out of the country at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. ‘One Day on Earth’ screening comes to Los Angeles On November 11, 2011—11.11.11—filmmakers from around the world recorded the human experience over a 24-hour time period for the second annual global day of media creation called One Day on Earth. Campus Recreation: Kindling exploration A convoy of student vehicles silently made their way alone through the night.  For miles in every direction from the island of light the beams from the headlights created in the canyon, was deep darkness.  But for the purposes of all involved, darkness was a boon. Organizations rally together to end clean water crisis with film festival Germantown, M.D. – A group of organizations have rallied together with Journey’s Crossing and Living Water International to raise awareness and raise funds to end to the clean water crisis through the Reel Water Film Festival, a non-profit project that will kick-off it’s first event on June 16th in Germantown, M.D. Festival Director Tiffany Jones says it’s been “amazing to see how passionate people have been about the project, and really inspiring to see it come together.” The venue will be held at the Black Rock Center for the Arts in Germantown, Maryland ...

Students ready for Senior Art Show After four years of perfecting their artistry, eight Pepperdine seniors will finally be in the spotlight. The Senior Student Art Exhibition, which will take place in the Pepperdine Weisman Art Museum, is a chance for artists to display their talent one last time before graduation.
